DUBAI – Vela International Marine Limited President and CEO Mohammed S. Gusaier was presented with the Safety & Quality Award during the Nov. 26th Seatrade Middle East Maritime Awards dinner held at a local hotel.

The Safety & Quality Award recognizes Vela’s dedication and contribution to ongoing development and promotion of safety and quality services for Vela and its employees.

The dinner is part of the Seatrade Middle East Maritime Conference that brings together the senior decision makers from the region’s growing shipping industry; ports and offshore marine industries; leading suppliers; and experts, such as, analysts, economists and financiers.

At the associated Seatrade Conference, Vela was also recognized for its invaluable support to the Automated Mutual-Assistance Vessel Rescue (Amver) System during 2011. All eligible Vela vessels received award certificates.

This system is effective worldwide on a voluntary basis sponsored by the United States Coast Guard to assist search and rescue coordinators in responding to emergencies at sea.
